Graphic Designer | YouTube Podcast Thumbnails

Lower Street Media Ltd
Contract
Remote
United Kingdom

What’s the gig?

We’re looking for a talented YouTube Thumbnail Designer to support our growing roster of video and audio podcast clients.

In this role, you’ll work closely with producers and executive producers to design high-performing thumbnails that capture attention and drive clicks, all while staying on-brand and tuned in to what works on YouTube.

You’ll create template systems, design three thumbnail variations per video, and lend your creative eye to everything from strategy to iteration.

We’re not just looking for a technician we’re, looking for someone who’s excited to bring their creative perspective to the table.

Who are we?

Lower Street is a podcasting company that works with agencies, consultants, and enterprise companies to make amazing shows. Shows that matter, that make an impact.

We're focused on 2 things:

  1. Making the best podcasts we possibly can, and
  2. Continually learning and improving on what we do - both individually and as a team.

From concept to distribution, we help clients to develop their ideas into fully fledged podcasts. And it's really fun.

Things you’ll do:

  • Design branded thumbnail templates in Photoshop for YouTube video podcasts.
  • Create three thumbnail variations per episode based on producer briefs.
  • Build Canva templates for audio-only shows, based on provided podcast artwork and brand guidelines.
  • Interpret and expand on briefs, adding your own creative ideas to the mix.
  • Collaborate with producers to iterate based on feedback from internal and client teams.
  • Adapt to a variety of brand styles, including more professional and corporate tones.
  • Contribute new concepts and thumbnail strategies that improve performance over time.

Who exactly are we looking for?

In short, someone who is:

Strategic. You understand what makes a thumbnail clickable  and why it matters. You bring that performance mindset to your design choices.

Collaborative. You communicate clearly with producers and other team members, and you're comfortable giving and receiving feedback.

Flexible. You can adapt your style to suit different brands, tones, and formats. You don’t just execute,  you elevate.

Creative. You’re full of ideas and love experimenting with new concepts and visual approaches.

Why you

For this role, you ideally have:

  • Proven experience designing YouTube thumbnails that perform.
  • Proficiency in Photoshop and Canva.
  • A strong eye for visual hierarchy, composition, and design for conversion.
  • Experience following and adapting brand guidelines.
  • Comfort working with project management tools.
  • Access to your own preferred design tools (we’ll provide asset libraries).
  • Bonus: A portfolio of thumbnails you’ve created that you’re proud of.
