Our first game is an innovative cross-platform PvP strategy game inspired by classic chess and other modern strategy games (e.g., RTS, MOBA, tactics), in an imaginative new fantasy world. The game has shown very positive results in early community playtesting. We're now searching for a sound designer to help us bring the game to life!
You will have very high ownership and be expected to be self-motivated, organized, and effective at working in a fast-paced and passionate team environment. You will:
Understand overall game direction and creative direction and translate it to sound direction implications -- current soundscape inspired by League of Legends, Final Fantasy, The Bazaar, Marvel Rivals
Create high quality SFX (e.g., core mechanics/game feel, abilities, UI, in-game event announcements) -- music is a plus but not required
Implement sound / mixing in game in Unity engine (using FMOD)
Lead rapid sound iteration with the team -- e.g., make regular builds, collect feedback from others on the team, and refine accordingly
Coordinate and collaborate with other contractors as needed (e.g., across music, SFX, VO)
Experience as a sound designer specifically for video games (e.g., 5+ years of experience in sound for video games)
Very strong intuition for gameplay and game feel
Great team work, collaboration, organization
Negotiable hourly rate based on your experience
Negotiable number of hours; seeking 30-40 hours/week. Contract duration still TBD, has potential to extend for 3-6+ months
