Location: Remote
Language: The working language of the International Fund is English. Fluency in French, Spanish and Arabic would be considered an advantage, to support communications needs of IFPIM’s regional hubs and teams.
Timeline: Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis and the roster will remain open until 30 January 2026. 


Overview

The International Fund for Public Interest Media (the “International Fund”) is seeking to establish a roster of strategic and creative freelance graphic designers to support its communications, fundraising, and programmatic work.

The ideal candidates will bring strong visual design skills, experience working with mission-driven organizations, and the ability to translate complex ideas into clear, compelling visual materials. Designers selected for the roster will be engaged on a project-by-project basis as needs arise. The International Fund is publicly funded, and as such the value proposition of designers applying to this roster will be a strong consideration. 


About the International Fund for Public Interest Media

The International Fund is the world’s only multilateral mechanism responding to the existential threats facing public interest media in low- and middle-income countries. The International Fund is designed to pool resources and expertise to boost the economic resilience of media organizations. The International Fund’s grants provide direct core funding to journalism media outlets in need and help develop long-term sustainable media markets, including through experimentation with national funds and new regulatory approaches. The International Fund complements existing efforts in the media development sector, catalyzing new money as a globally coordinated but fully independent vehicle. With its headquarters in Paris, the International Fund’s regional teams are based in Latin America, Asia, Africa and the Middle East, and Eastern Europe. 


The Role

Graphic designers on the roster will play a key role in supporting the International Fund’s visual communications and public profile. Designers will work closely with the Communications team to ensure visual consistency, clarity, and quality across a range of outputs.

This role requires highly organized, creative individuals or companies that can work independently, manage multiple priorities, and deliver high-quality design work within established brand guidelines. Engagements may range from short-term, rapid-turnaround assignments to longer-term design support as the Fund’s operations scale up.


Graphic design needs may include: 


  • Publications & Knowledge Products: design reports, briefs, presentations, and other digital and print materials
  • Event & Convening Assets: produce visual materials for conferences and events 
  • Fundraising & Donor Communications: layout of donor-facing materials and fundraising campaign assets 
  • Visual Storytelling: create infographics, data visualizations, and impact storytelling assets for use on print and digital (website, social)
  • Brand Development: ensure all outputs align with the International Fund’s brand guidelines across formats and audiences. Contribute to continued evolution of the brand and organizational identity.
  • Template development: support in development of social media templates and assets for use in Canva 


Design roster profile (individuals or companies)

The ideal roster will demonstrate creativity, strong visual judgment, attention to detail, and clear understanding of the mission of the International Fund, as well as: 

  • Proven experience in graphic design for digital and print media
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating conceptual thinking and high-quality execution
  • Experience working with nonprofit, media, public interest, or mission-driven organizations (preferred)
  • Experience working with distributed teams across different contexts and time zones
  • Proficiency in standard design tools (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite, Figma)
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and proactively in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to incorporate feedback effectively
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with communications and program teams
